Before You Nationalise Rail Mr Corbyn, Will You let Us Know If We Can Have A Mag Lev?

The Labour manifesto was leaked, leafing through it you get to the bit about nationalising the rail industry again.

Although rail tickets are expensive and yes when it comes to bums on seats and rail, at the moment less is definitely more would be a good bit of food for thought, tickets are not going to come down in the foreseeable future.

But my thoughts are if the rail industry was Nationalised it would take a big chunk of money away from lets say having a study of a Mag Lev between Hull and Liverpool.

I can say I definitely need a Mag Lev more than I need Socialism, Conservatism, Liberalism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism,  pretty much anything with a "Ism" in it!

So my tongue in cheek plea to the Labour Leader is, please can you let us know on a postcard or post it note whether a Mag Lev was feasible?

A few months ago a informative article was published in the Hull Daily Mail about a feasibility study into a Mag Lev line from Hull to Liverpool, something I would support.

Hull has actually proposed a monorail for the city in the past, this was a good idea, it's futuristic and fun and would definitely set the city apart and its not a drawn out pipe dream like HS2.

But with a Nationalised Rail Industry under Jeremy Corbyn, it probably wouldn't happen like HS2 mainly because government isn't good at setting these projects up!

Private investment would get the project up and running if there is interest from investors.

Thankfully though I don't think Mr Corbyn will be elected PM, at least for now the dream can stay alive.

Politics Is Killing The NHS

What is the weaponisation of the NHS?

It's been the splash of some of the Fleet Street faithful, I can't seem to understand what this term is, the Labour Leader Edward Miliband denies saying this, but I would like some clarification on this term!

From my discussions with a original member of the NHS, I'm slowly coming to think that the NHS was just set up for political leaders to use as political cannon fodder to use for election purposes.

My discussions with Jean Hall, Vice President of Haltemprice and Howden Conservative Association, opens up to debate where the NHS actually went wrong.

When she became a nurse the NHS was run quite efficiently, one person at the top of the hospital, nurses, cleaners and doctors. Matrons ran the wards and when cleaners were cleaning, staff didn't go near where they were working.

A committee of people were on the board of the hospital and they had someone who knew finance and they did the books.

So why has the NHS become the mess it is? Greed? Lack of value in staff? Ignorance to policies? Too many complex policies?

The list of questions is endless, but Jean's account is that people knew their job and were valued for doing their job.

It seems of we returned to that sort of set up in hospitals we might actually get an NHS that we need, even when new treatments become available it isn't hard to factor a specialist in to the budget.

But my own thoughts are is that greed has taken over, I haven't heard too many employees of the NHS talk about how proud they are to serve the public and be a public servants all I hear about is pay and pensions, your pay doesn't improve your working conditions nor does your pension.

Working conditions are improved by looking hard at what is going wrong, is their too many mangers to one department, is it confusing staff on who is actually in charge?

Could we do with removing alcoholics, drug addicts and drinks from A&E and instead invest more in centres where these people can be taken for counselling and support, rather than clogging up A&E and Police Cells.

From Jeans time and she spent over four decades in the NHS, it's time we the public valued the staff of the NHS and the management and politicians did as well, it won't fix all the problems, but taking us back to a simpler time would improve our healthcare service considerably!

We should also stop using the NHS for political leverage as elections come and go, nothing changes! It's time for real change!

To Rig A Energy Market or To Not Rig A Energy Market, That Is The Question? (Part 2)

In part 1 we learnt about the various ways our electricity and gas is made, so let's go back to the question at hand, should energy prices be fixed?

To me it seems like a complete waste of time, let's say you're with a energy company that has appalling customer service and standards, if you have fixed price market, who would you move to? You wouldn't necessarily move since there is no benefit to switching suppliers, the benefit is usually lower energy prices.

But for my local MP he seems to think fixing energy prices is a good idea, but let's face it, the person who puts on his leaflet that he believes his leader is right, is living in a dream world.

The leaflet didn't seem like he was concerned about high energy prices but was more brown nosing his party leadership and seemed quite needy for supporters. which is a massive turn off.

However the leaflet did point out the various schemes that Local Government is doing by buying bulk energy and selling it off cheaply to members of the scheme, it's a shame my MP and his party don't go about it the right way.

In the wider picture it's time to think outside of the box, we need to look at different technologies and test them to see which one benefits us greatly and reduces energy bills.

It will be talked about for years to come, but the government that enacts fixed energy prices will be the ones with egg on their face as the amount of players in the marketplace diminishes.
