Willerby & Kirk Ella Last Wednesday

It's always a joy to visit Willerby & Kirk Ella, a lovely reception by local residents and was as always made to feel very welcome.

I hadn't been to Willerby or Kirk Ella for several months due to to people passing away and i'm not a funeral type of person and made my apologies for not attending, but i had been receiving several emails from friends who live in Kirk Ella to come and visit and once i had crossed the threshold into Kirk Ella and into the Beech Tree Pub for lunch it was lovely, i had the feeling i was expected and it was a lot of fun, a bit of a giggle and a laugh with people.

The main reason for visiting Willerby was the empty shops near to the square, in Beverley we had managed to fill vacant shops and these particular shops had been vacant for some time and would make a great starter business for anyone, in Willerby you get the best of both worlds, you can be catering for all or market yourself at the high end for luxury items for those living in Kirk Ella and West Ella.

I did take the bus from Hull to Willerby and was so glad i did, i do actually know Willerby, but £4 all day travel with EYMS (East Yorkshire Motor Services) was more appealing and it was fun, but from the bus i saw things i would have missed, like how ERYC (East Riding of Yorkshire Council) makes repairs to footpaths, When i visited Norwood in Beverley i saw the same thing, the council doesn't patch, it seems to roll out a new path completely, which although i'm in the East Riding a lot i had never really noticed it too much.

It was also a joy to see what i would call pretty much zero litter, there was the odd piece here and there, but nothing too much.

The Bus journey was a joy, EYMS staff really are the best at times, very knowledgeable and i did get told off for not knowing key locations, but it's all fun, i just don't know every bus route that the company has to offer.

Since i visited Willerby i have no excuse not to attend Haltemprice Central Events, which i want to attend anyway, but i haven't attended all that many recently.

Although it rained at times during the visit, the rain did clear up when i was out in the open and it brought a smile to my face, my friends who had passed on must have been smiling down or something, it was most certainly a weird weather pattern.

As alway pampered and spoilt, still a very lovely outing.

Taking The Luggage Rack...

It's officially AGM season, yesterday i had my first AGM and i've not had a AGM on a Saturday for a longtime. Anyway, i decided to take the bus to and from the AGM.

On the way to the AGM the bus was empty, i would guess that everyone goes shopping in the City early to avoid the crowds and queues, i'm not a Saturday shopper as i'm not good with queues, something i'm not a fan of doing.

On the way back the bus was full, i stood for a while, no problem in doing that, i then decided to not get in the way of people coming onto the bus with pushchairs to sit in the luggage rack, it was comfortable, it was somewhere to sit out of the way.

It was a enjoyable bus ride, i don't usually take buses as i'm driven around everywhere and i can see how reliant on being driven around i am, i couldn't take the bus all the time, it simply isn't viable, but since it was Saturday i thought i would use the bus.

It would seem in bus design we have started to design buses around open spaces for pushchairs and wheelchairs, which is a good thing, everyone deserves to travel and have a certain degree of independence. However we will need bigger buses to accommodate a growing population, it isn't the best thing to have to stand on any form of public transport, it will take significant investment and more subsidies to bus companies to meet the needs of people using the services and it's quite in demand.

In some cities travelling by public transport is a must, especially where the amount of traffic is such that taking a car is not viable, Hull doesn't have that problem, it has another problem, which is too high parking charges, which is the reason i wasn't driven to the AGM.

If you're a aficionado of buses, below is a picture of a cool looking bus i found on Google:
